Director of Student Ministries

Bentheim Reformed Church is seeking a full-time Director of Student Ministries.
The Director of Student Ministries leads our efforts to make disciples of students as well as
develops and deploys other student ministry leaders.

BRC is a church deeply committed to the gospel of Jesus, the Word of God, and the mission to
make disciples. BRC is a growing church, largely comprised of young families, and has an
average Sunday attendance of 250-300. Bentheim is a rural part of the community of Hamilton,
located southwest of Grand Rapids, MI, and southeast of Holland, MI.

Student Ministry is an integral part of the life of Bentheim Reformed Church. We have a deep
desire for students to meet Jesus, grow closer to Jesus, and share Jesus. High School youth
group has an average weekly attendance of 40-50 students, and Middle School youth group
has an average weekly attendance of 25-35 students.

Function:
The Director of Student Ministries helps BRC pursue the mission to make disciples of Jesus,
particularly by leading middle school and high school student ministries as well as identifying
and equipping other student ministry leaders.
45+ hours per week

Accountability:
The Director of Student Ministries operates under the oversight of the Consistory. All staff are
evaluated and reviewed by the Executive Committee of Consistory. Student Ministries are
overseen by the Education Committee.

Qualifications:
1. Have a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the BRC statement of faith
2. Actively support the mission and vision of BRC
3. Possess deep conviction about the truth of God’s Word and the saving power of the gospel
4. Passionate about teaching the truth of God’s Word and Reformed theology to others, especially students
5. Passionate about building and functioning within a team
6. Has a teachable spirit and is willing to train and equip others for their own development as student ministry leaders
7. Possess strong organization and communication skills
8. Possess strong computing skills: word-processing, email, basic office software
9. Able to maintain confidentiality
10. Education: Possess or be working towards a degree in Bible/Theology/Ministry

Responsibilities:
OVERSEE STUDENT MINISTRY PROGRAMMING 
Includes such items as:
1. Plan, coordinate, and direct middle school and high school student ministry programs; publish a yearly ministry calendar
2. Plan, develop, and deliver biblical teaching for middle school and high school students; publish a regular teaching schedule
3. Plan and lead student ministry retreats and mission/service trips
4. Plan and lead other student ministry activities and events
5. Oversee the Student Ministry budget
6. Coordinate fundraising efforts as needed
7. Provide regular communication to students, parents, leaders, and the congregation

RELATIONAL MINISTRY 
Includes such items as:
1. Build discipling relationships with students, parents, and families connected to Student Ministry
2. Oversee student small group ministry

LEADERSHIP TEAM DEVELOPMENT 
Includes such items as:
1. Recruit, develop, and deploy other leaders for student ministry
2. Help student ministry leaders to grow as disciples of Jesus through teaching, training, and relationships
3. In consultation with the Education Committee, regularly evaluate and set goals for Student Ministry
4. Provide leadership and support within the Education Committee

PROFESSIONAL EXPECTATIONS 
Includes such items as:
1. Participate in the life of Bentheim Reformed Church
2. Should be(come) a member of Bentheim Reformed Church
3. Participate as a team member in the BRC Staff under the direction of the Lead Pastor, attending staff meetings and participating in staff projects
4. Participate in the Hamilton Area Youth Ministries network
