General Description:  
Pastor of Discipleship and Family Ministries will be a champion of healthy families and disciple-making for Jesus Christ. The primary focus of this role is relationships.  The goal of this position is to provide leadership and help Olivet develop a culture that deeply values generational discipleship, starting in our homes with the parent/child relationship.

He will be a true believer in Jesus Christ who, as a growing disciple, has a history of making disciples who make disciples. His function within the life of the church is to be consistent with Ephesians 4:12-13… “to equip God’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ”.  He will have the ability to manage, team with, and oversee other workers (staff and lay).  He will have healthy family relationships, being able to balance priorities between home and ministry.  He will have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively both interpersonally as well as in public settings.  He will work with staff and ministry teams to champion the cause of disciple-making in and through Olivet’s campuses and ministries.

He will report directly to the Lead Pastor. He will attend ministry staff meetings and monthly elder meetings.

Discipleship Ministry – 30% of focus/time/energy (System Builder)
-Facilitate personal investment in people through a process of spiritual formation and multiplying disciples.
-Implement and regularly evaluate an effective plan and strategy for ongoing disciple-making.
-Facilitate ongoing training and equipping to enhance active involvement into relational ministry opportunities both within, outside, and through Olivet.
-Engage with teams of people who bring life, action, and synergy to these initiatives.

Leadership – 30% of focus/time/energy (A Developer of Leaders)
-Provide guidance to relational ministries such as “generational discipleship”, Life Groups, Christian Education, Men’s Ministries, Women’s Ministries, etc., with a constant eye toward “raising up the next generation” of servant leaders.
-Maximize volunteerism.

Family Ministry – 30% of focus/time/energy (A Resource for Marriages/Families)
-Relate to all ages and generations of believers but will have a specific emphasis on young adults and young families that will foster their spiritual health and strengthen their bonds with the mission and vision of Olivet.
-Coordinate with Children’s Ministry Director, Youth Pastor, and Young Adult Ministries Director to ensure that children, youth, adults and families have opportunities for spiritual and social growth and that ministries complement each other.

Pastoral – 10% of focus/time/energy
-Serve in a “Pastoral role”: Stage presence, limited counseling, public prayer, ministry-specific visitation, weddings, and funerals for those who would request his involvement.
-Preach periodically (potentially averaging 3 times per year)
-Other duties as required.

This will be a full-time pastoral role with salary and benefits.
