Recovery Support Team Member – Men’s Community

Job Summary

West Brook Recovery Center is looking for Male Candidates that are seeking an opportunity to utilize their interpersonal/coaching skills with our clients on a full time contractual basis as a Community Living Recovery Support Team Member.  West Brook is looking for a mature Male individual or master level student with a heart for those in the community suffering from substance abuse.   West Brook will provide an excellent opportunity to develop the skills necessary to work in the field of addiction.

Our current/immediate need is for the men’s community.  

The Community Support person will provide oversight of clients in order to promote and enhance increased safety and healthy direction for a balanced, abstinence-based lifestyle.  The position includes room and board in a furnished 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment, often shared with new clients upon admission.  Generally, during client programming (8:30a – 5p) you will have open time, but flexibility is required for supervision, transportation, admissions and other client related needs as they occur.

General Responsibilities

Be available to clients on an as-needed basis:

  • Support clients by observing, listening and sharing experiences.
  • Facilitate transportation as needed for clients, to scheduled programing, as well as to 12-Step meetings.
  • Report to the staff of West Brook about events and interactions (good or otherwise) which may pose a concern for client’s treatment and or recovery. 
  • Help maintain a safe environment for the clients, including accompanying new clients on an as needed basis.
  • Capture breathalyzer and urine drug screen tests from clients.
  • Monitor Community Living clients – if believed a client needs physical or mental assistance, contact West Brook.
  • Maintain communication with the apartment complex about facility maintenance.
  • Coordination of client room assignments, key distribution and returns.
  • Conduct apartment inspections.  Coordination and communication of needs with cleaning company.
  • Provide guidance in the application of West Brook rules and policies.
  • Be on call in the case of emergency or other issues that arise.
  • Participate in the weekly Community Meeting, leading as needed.

  • Commitment to the provision of assistance to clients.  
  • Willingness to work as an integral component of a team.
  • Knowledge of recovery principles for substance use disorders.
  • Capable of residing in the community housing during assigned hours.


Mature Male individual with working knowledge of Substance Abuse Treatment and recovery, as well as a passion for working with individuals receiving mental health treatment.
