Youth Ministry Intern



          Cedar Springs United Methodist Church is seeking a nurturing relationship with an energetic, self-starting individual interested and gifted in ministry with teens. We seek help establishing and growing a vibrant, active youth ministry. An interest, and giftedness in contemporary worship music is a plus. We offer supportive mentoring, guidance, flexibility, opportunity to develop ministry skills and to gain ministry experience. We ae as interested in offering a growth opportunity for the student, as we are in benefiting our youth.


          15 hours per week – somewhat flexible

Initial Length of Commitment

          1 Semester (approx. 15 weeks) with potential to continue

Start date as soon as January 2, 2019

Candidate Profile

     — We seek a candidate with a love for God and commitment to be a disciple of Jesus,

          and who demonstrates an eagerness to lead others to abundant life in Christ and in  

          fellowship with his Church.


     — A successful candidate will enthusiastically and creatively model, teach and lead 

         young people to pursue enduring “paths of righteousness” in a complex, post-

         Christian culture.


     — A successful candidate will seek effectiveness in group leadership and in formation

         of individual mentoring relationships with youth.


     — A successful candidate will seek guidance and support from assigned church leaders 

         and will keep leaders apprised of activities and the ministry goals and objectives of those



     — A candidate must pass a background check and adhere to CSUMC’s Safety Policies.



         The intern will:

           – Plan and implement strategies to activate youth within the church population, their    

              friends and associates, and unchurched youth in the community.

           – Plan and lead youth activities that feature times for teaching biblical truth that is

              contextualized and applied for the lives of youth in our society. These activities should

              also feature opportunities for recreation and for the cultivation of significant social   


           – Educate youth about supporting the local church, and promote a youth presence in

              corporate worship and other whole-church activities.

           – Seek a collaborative relationship with CSUMC staff, parents and others supporting youth
