Title:                          Associate Pastor of Student Ministries

General:                  Fulltime position serving middle school and high school students

Reports:                 Reports to the lead pastor

Who we are:

We are a Baptist church, affiliated with CBNW. Our lead pastor is a Dallas Theological Seminary graduate and we also have ties with Multnomah University and Western Seminary. We are a solid, Bible teaching church with a long history of communicating God’s Word, sending and supporting missionaries, loving and welcoming newcomers to the church, and we are working at developing a practical love for our community. We areparticularly passionate about impacting families with the Gospel of Christ who have settled in our corner of Lewis County.

Our community:

Winlock is a small, rural community with a population of about 1,350.  We are located 60 miles north of Portland, Oregon and 100 miles south of Seattle, Washington. The twin cities of Centralia and Chehalis (county seat) are located 15 miles north of Winlock.

There are approximately 180 students at the high school and 140 middle school students as well as about 35 students who attend an alternative high school. Our elementary school serves about 300 children. Winlock is located within 20 minutes of seven other school districts.

The northwest is surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty and because of this our residents enjoy all of the activities that accompany this natural playground such as, hiking, camping, site seeing, trips to the ocean, mountain climbing, hunting, fishing, gardening and many more outdoor activities.

We are seeking a godly believer in Christ who has at least a college degree and preferably an Mdiv, who is called of God to minister to middle and high school students and who understands the issues and needs facing youth today.

Commitment to a godly lifestyle:  He is required to maintain a consistently godly, exemplary lifestyle as a representative of Christ and an extension of the  church, as defined by 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

Passion to reach and disciple middle and high school students:He is required to live out the Gospel before students and their families by loving them deeply, communicating the Gospel, and teaching the Word in order to see them established in the faith.

Willingness to work hard at the ministry: He is required to have an industrious work ethic, especially in the following areas:

  • pray consistently for the students and their families
  • connect relationally with students and their families
  • study diligently to prepare clear, relevant Bible lessons
  • plan, and with God’s help, perform an ongoing, strategic ministry in the church and community
  • recruit and train volunteer staff to help in this ministry
  • develop trust relationships with local middle and high school administration, faculty, and staff, and students

Readiness to be a team player with a servant’s heart: He is required to work well with other ministries and to serve where gifted and able. We are looking for a youth pastor, but sometimes, by mutual agreement, duties may extend beyond the scope of youth work.
