Bethany Bible Church of Belleville, Michigan is seeking a full-time Assistant Pastor of Youth and Family.  BBC is located 30 miles west of Detroit and 10 miles east of Ann Arbor.  We are a growing congregation of 350+ attendees (200+ members) with a focus on expository preaching and a blended worship style that leans contemporary.  Our mission as a church is to glorify God by leading people to faith in Jesus Christ, developing one another to Christ-like maturity, and equipping one another for life-long service.

The man that God calls for the position will be a spiritual leader for our congregation and help move our vision and purpose forward for Youth, Young Adult and Family Ministries.  He must be firmly grounded in the Word, vigilant in prayer, have a heart for the lost, and a desire for the edification of the saints.  His primary areas of responsibility and oversight will include the Youth Ministry (along with the families involved), developing a vibrant Young Adult Ministry and some oversight of the Children’s Ministries in coordination with other ministry leaders.

General Pastoral Care

  • To faithfully study and teach the Word of God
  • To faithfully pray for and support the ministries of Bethany Bible Church

Youth Ministry

  • Develop and maintain ministries involving youth with an emphasis on evangelism, discipleship, fellowship, and ministry
  • Work within the allotted budget to oversee youth ministry
  • Oversee the Wednesday night Youth Ministry program
  • Regularly recruit, train, encourage and lead youth leaders
  • Develop and sustain a vibrant team of ministering teens
  • Counsel parents and teens as needed
  • Oversee and run regular monthly youth activities, with strategic emphases on evangelism, discipleship, fellowship and ministry
  • Oversee at least one annual youth retreat
  • Oversee an annual Mission Trip
  • Actively participate and involve youth in the major outreaches/events of the church
  • Oversee transitional times for teens moving into and out of the youth ministry

Other Ministries

  • Family Ministry: to regularly meet with parents and families of youth for the purpose of evangelism, discipleship and counseling
  • Young Adult Ministry: to develop a dynamic ministry for young adults (18-30 yrs) in connectivity with the youth ministry and broader church
  • Children’s Ministry: to work with the CE Committee and Daycare staff in overseeing the children’s ministries of BBC, including seasonal events such as B3, Fall Fest, and Winter Carnival

The church has been located at its present site since 1959. The church was first known as Bethany Community Church,then as Bethany Baptist Church in the mid 1960’s, and has been known as Bethany Bible Church since 1984. Bethany (BBC) is an independent, non-denominational, evangelical, congregational-governed body. The typical Sunday morning 11:00AM worship service is comprised of expositional preaching, a blended, mostly contemporary style of music with seasonal choir. Average Sunday morning attendance varies between 350-400 people. The 9:45AM hour includes Sunday School for children and teens and Adult Bible Fellowships for all adults with an attendance of approximately 120 adults and children. “Life Groups”, our small group ministry, meet Sunday Nights, bi-weekly in homes throughout the community. Our Midweek services held on Wednesday nights include Bible for Life, a comprehensive journey through all major doctrines, overview of every book of the Bible and engage in areas of practical theology for adults. Children and Student ministries meet on Wednesday nights. AWANA Boys and Girls Club (Pre-K – 6th Grade) has approximately 70 children in attendance. There are various mens’ and ladies’ Bible study opportunities at BBC throughout the week. The BBC Youth Group is currently led by the Assistant Pastor of Adult and Youth Ministries, along with a team of volunteers, and averages about 25-30 teens in attendance each week. The Youth Group (FUSE) meets weekly on Wednesday evenings. A typical Wednesday includes an open café time for students to come eat, hang out and play games, ice breaker games, youth leader led worship, a blend of relevant expositional and topical teaching and gender/age based small groups. Monthly activities include fellowship, service and evangelistic based events. Theteens participate in off-site youth retreats, as well as local, regional, and international short-term mission trips. Another significant BBC children’s outreach ministry is a basketball program called “B3” (Belleville Basketball at Bethany) for children K-6th Grade. More than 150 church and community children participate on Saturdays during the winter months. At B3, kids and parents hear a weekly gospel presentation. In addition to the children and student ministries there is a significant population of college-age students and young adults with which to launch a young adult ministry at Bethany. Belleville is located within 15 miles of over 10 different colleges, universities and junior colleges including The University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan University and the University of Michigan-Dearborn. A significant children’s outreach ministry is the Bethany Day Care Center, which began in 1974. It has an enrollment of approximately 200 children from the community. The Day Care has multiple pre-school sessions and a morning kindergarten class. Bethany Day Care has the freedom to teach God’s Word, without apology, hosts children’s 5-day clubs, Release-Time classes for the neighboring elementary school, and feeds into the AWANA and Sunday School programs. The Day Care has an excellent reputation in the community, and has served as an invaluable first contact into the lives of many of our church families. BBC has a strong emphasis on missions with 25 family and missionary organizations receiving monthly financial support. Fifteen percent of BBC general budget go to missions, which totals over $60,000.00 annually. BBC members and friends have also participated in short term missionary trips. Belleville is a small town with a population of 3,500 people. It is surrounded by Van Buren Township, which has a population of approximately 30,000 people. Belleville is a located 30 miles west of Detroit Michigan. The church is located just outside of the Belleville City limits on approximately ten (10) acres of land. In 2016 construction was completed on a new sanctuary, seating 605 people, as well as a new administrative office wing, nursery/preschool area, library, conference room, choir room, and several adult classrooms. BBC also has a multi-purpose gymnasium with an adjoining kitchen. The Gymnasium was built in 1981 and has a seating capacity of 400 people. The Day Care operates from the Family Ministry Center; an 8,800 sq. ft. educational wing built in 1998.
