The West Michigan Friendship Center

General Summary: 20-40 hours/week*. Provide oversight and vision for the Friendship Center. Responsible for fundraising for the Friendship Center, in partnership with the Board. Represent the Friendship Center to local churches, foundations, and community providers. Create and maintain infrastructure for the Center. Reports to Friendship Center Board.
* The position is currently a part-time role. Expansion to full time will require successful fundraising on the part of the Director.

Essential Requirements:
1. 5+ years of ministry or social work experience; program management or executive director experience preferred
2. Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
3. Extensive fundraising experience
4. Demonstrated cultural understanding and sensitivities
5. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, computer, and written communication skills
6. Committed to Friendship Center vision and values

Desired Qualifications:
1. Cross-cultural experience, preferably with immigrants and refugees
2. Bilingual in any languages from Muslim-majority countries
3. Web and marketing experience

Essential Functions:
1. Pray regularly for the center, its partners, and those who utilize its services. Share prayer needs with the Prayer Coordinator, Program Coordinator, and Board.
2. Prepare reports for the Board and participate in all Board meetings.
3. Fundraise for the Center and engage the Board in the fundraising process as needed.
4. Maintain financial documentation in collaboration with the bookkeeping service and Treasurer.
5. Share Center needs and opportunities with local churches, foundations, and community providers.
6. Recruit for and screen volunteers.
7. Supervise the Program Coordinator and other hired staff.
8. Ensure a welcoming and culturally appropriate environment is created and maintained.
9. Perform essential functions for the set-up of the Center including bookkeeping, telecommunications, furniture, equipment, supplies, insurance, and banking with assistance of Board members.
10. Facilitate creation and utilization of marketing material including website, logo, social media, brochure, flyers, etc. in collaboration with the Board.
11. Create standard processes for the Center, in collaboration with the Board.
12. Assess, adjust, and report on program development with feedback from the Program Coordinator.
13. Perform other duties as assigned.
