Job Description: Director of Children and Youth Ministries

As a member of a team and under the direct supervision of the Campus Pastor, the Ford Campus Director of Children and Youth Ministries participates in the mission, goals, and objectives of Madison Church.  The Director assists and equips ministry leaders, volunteers, and parishioners to follow Christ together as a diverse community.


  • Be a mature Christian and a member (or willing to become a member) of Madison Church, in complete agreement with our vision, mission, values and beliefs and be comfortable with Reformed theology.
  • Experience in and passion for discipling children, teenagers and adults with working knowledge of their spiritual, emotional and physical needs.
  • Have a clearly articulated understanding of Christian Community Development Principles, racial reconciliation, and biblical justice, particularly as it relates to the education system.
  • Have had successful experiences in a multi-cultural organization and possess the ability to build relationships and discipline effectively in diverse environments of children and youth.
  • Excellent relational, oral and written communication skills with ability to mentor others.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects and events.
  • Experience working with teams in the coordination of programs or projects for successful implementation.
  • Proven ability in developing a vision and creating initiatives designed to utilize the giftedness of people.
  • Must be computer literate and have experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google platform.


  • A Bachelor Degree in Ministry or a similar discipline and/or experience
  • Five (5) years experience in Ministry Coordination
  • Work experience in a church and or community setting is desirable


1. Personal Spiritual Formation

  • Keep the important thing the important thing: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’   This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” Mt 22
  • Spend intentional time in the Word through daily devotions
  • Formulate a trusted prayer shield and establish a Sabbath rhythm

2. Intergenerational Leadership

  • While the ministries may be age specific, this position will seek to create an environment that is intrinsically intergenerational, supporting the community in its entirety, ensuring that all age levels are invited and included in the life of the church.
  • Provide direction and leadership for faith formation and discipleship of children and youth at the Ford campus.
    • Identify gifts in children and youth and connect them to lead and serve in the church.
    • Lead in stand up / profession of faith / baptism for Ford youth and children.
    • Provide spiritual care for children and youth.
  • Work with leaders to identify curriculum and resources available for intergenerational ministry.
  • Provide vision and leadership for next steps for Ford’s children and youth ministries as the church transitions into our new home at 415 Franklin.  
  • Develop new outreach opportunities with children and youth outside of the congregation.

3. Ford Campus Children’s Ministry

  • Recruit, interview, train and empower a team of ministry leaders who are passionate about reaching children in a diverse environment.
  • Create children’s ministry calendar and yearly timeline and plan.
  • Ensure all safety standards for students are followed including background checks for leaders.
  • Ensure that all teaching materials and programming are age-appropriate and compatible with Madison vision, mission, and shared values.

4. Multi-site Youth Ministry

  • Oversee Multi-site Middle School Youth Group on Wednesday Nights at Madison Place
  • Assist the Square Campus Youth Director to recruit, train, and lead a team of Ford based-volunteers to help in overseeing Multi-site High school youth group on Sunday nights and other High School aged ministries.
  • Develop and oversee departmental budget
  • Attend weekly staff meetings
  • Attend annual ministry planning retreat with all volunteer leaders, staff, and Ford Council


  • The Director of Children and Youth Ministries is accountable to the Madison Ford Campus Pastor and works in close collaboration with Square Campus Youth Director.


  • A performance review will be given by the pastor and a Ford Council elder no later than the first 90 days after hire, and thereafter on an annual basis.


  • This is a 40 hours-per-week, full time and nonexempt position.
