Housekeeping Manager

SUMMARY

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the day to day operations of all buildings utilizing the skills of all housekeeping staff and students.  The Manager is responsible for the Housekeeping Student Leadership Model and will be the Manger for the Student Leader Internship.  The Manager is responsible for customer satisfaction using the Work Order System as a guide for success. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL

  • Ability to lead, train, supervise work of department staff of 50+ student workers, scheduling of employee, employee guidance and direction.
  •  Will ensure staff is properly trained and aware of Cornerstone /Appa level 2 Housekeeping standards.
  • Flexible schedule to meet Housekeeping demands that will include evenings and weekends
  • Will provide direction, instructions and will make decisions to ensure a smooth operation of department functions.
  • Overseeing hiring process, reviewing resumes ,applications, interview of new hires
  • Assign staff for completion of Work Orders and provide written or hands on instruction
  • Observe and inspect work while in progress and when complete
  • Must be able to effectively address concerns with department staff, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by staff, parents, and departments across campus to ensure a successful resolution.
  • Must be able to prioritize departmental functions and assign work to department staff to meet deadlines
  • Will provide direction, instructions and will make decisions to ensure a smooth operation of department functions.
  • Budget Management: Management and reporting of Housekeeping budget which includes staffing and procurement
  • Order materials and manage inventory
  • Oversee Student Leadership Model and lead student worker training
  • Comply with campus policies and procedures
  • Prepare written Standard Operating Procedures as needed
  • Contact ,schedule, oversee outside vendors for projects pertaining to Housekeeping needs
  • Participate in the  On Call Program
  • Coordinate with Hospitality Director and assist with events
  • Other duties as assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree and three to five years’ experience in management in housekeeping/ Janitorial Services
  • Experience in a collegiate or hospitality setting is a plus
  • Knowledge of carpet care a plus
  • Working knowledge of the principles of supervision and management
  • Ability to train and supervise others effectively
  • Ability to use tools, machines, equipment, and the materials for housekeeping
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work responsibilities
  • Ability to promote and work in a team environment
  • Working knowledge of safety procedures and applicable standards and codes
  • Experience working/managing student
