Youth and Family Minister at St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church

  About Us

St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church ( in Lake Jackson, Texas is seeking a full-time minister to lead our youth and small-group ministries as well as to provide support for our children’s Sunday School programs. We are a large pastoral-sized congregation that loves the Lord. We have a very strong affinity for the arts - choral performance, theater and symphony. We love to have fun together and people tell us we are a very friendly and welcoming congregation. We are kid-friendly as well as multi-generational, so it is not uncommon to find kids, young parents, middle-aged and older members all serving, learning and having fun side-by-side. This unordained position reports to the Rector and will oversee a group of lay teachers, parent volunteers and other lay leaders.

Primary responsibilities

Youth Program

    • Develop  programs for and relationships with our 6th through 12th graders and their friends in varied settings and implement these programs for this age, including E.Y.C.  Program development encompasses Diocesan events, summer programs, community partners & short-term mission work.
    • Work with youth who attend “The Hall” ministry - an after school program for 7th and 8th graders - by building relationships and getting to know the kids (25-50 kids Monday-Thursday) who attend while school is in session.
    • Engage youth to participate in the Dioceses of Texas sponsored events, Camp Allen Summer Camp and as well as seeking and maintaining partnerships with other churches and organizations in the Lake Jackson area.
    • Work with staff and lay leaders to communicate programs, set goals and reach milestones.
    • Recruit, train and equip lay leaders and parents to share in this ministry.

  Children’s Program

    • Work with clergy, staff lay teachers and families to develop weekly and ongoing programs of Christian formation, service and fellowship activities that are seasonally and liturgically informing and age-appropriate for age 4 through 5th grade. This includes curriculum development, recruiting, encouraging and equipping the ministry of teachers and nursery staff.
    • Provide ongoing communication and feedback to and with parents of our current children. This is crucial to ongoing growth of our faith formation which currently utilizes the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program across three different ages levels.
    • Recruit and equip volunteers to serve children and youth in all programs including VBS, while ensuring all adults working with children are trained & certified in Safeguarding God’s Children.


    • Earned a Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years children’s and/or youth experience
    • Evidence of relationship with Christ and knowledge of or willingness to learn the traditions, liturgy and doctrine of the Episcopal Church
    • Communications & technology skills - web, social-media platforms, texting and other tools to reach youth and families
    • Ability to lead people, manage & motivate volunteers, utilize systems & processes
    • Able to be a self-starter, maintain consistent community presence, stay organized & be competent with the Bible
